Wheeler Container Travel Adventures

The Wheeler family travel curse continues this time on mega scale. We had been waiting all week to hear news about our container which was supposed to arrive in the U.S. on Monday, April 19th. We finally heard yesterday that it was in Houston and would arrive at our home on Saturday with movers. Today, we received word that our container was not in Houston but rather was in Los Angeles and even at that, the moving company was not quite sure where it was at or when it would arrive.

House Closing

Wednesday Naomi and I are closing on our home. We are grateful to have found a good property for a reasonable price. We believe it will be a great home for our family and ministry. We haven't heard yet whether or not our container has arrived in Houston port. We were supposed to have heard on Monday. We are still hoping to have the movers begin unloading on Saturday and finishing up on Monday. Our container could get held by customs for more thorough examination so we are waiting to hear.

Plane Crash Kills Polish President and many key leaders

Our hearts go out to our many precious friends in Poland in this time of national mourning. The associated press reported that the president's plane went down in an approach to a foggy, Russian air strip. "The crash came as a staggering blow to Poland, wiping out a large swath of the country’s leadership, including the commanders of all four branches of the military, the head of the central bank, the president and many of his top advisors.

Nietzsche and his proposition, God is dead.

In his work The Gay Science, Nietzsche writes:

naming

I've always been fascinated by band names. Some that come to mind, The Beatles (was that after insects or cars), the Rolling Stones, Kiss, Van Halen, Madonna, Elvis, Michael, U2, Iron Skillet.

Some interesting names:

  • Echo and the bunnymen
  • Super furry animals ( a group of hairy Welshmen)
  • Modest Mouse
  • Startled Insects.

Or how about the grammatically correct sentence names:

  • Betty's not a vitamin (after Flintstone vitamins which had all the characters except Betty)

Resurrection Day

All over the world followers of Jesus celebrate his resurrection. His resurrection is an authenticating sign that Jesus was more than simply a good moral teacher or a historical figure. The story of all humanity centers and finds meaning in the story of God that culminates in the earthly sojourn of Jesus. The resurrection tells us that there is hope in the face of the most difficult and devastating of life's circumstances.  Happy Easter everyone.
