Naomi and I put in an offer on a home on Thursday night and then 23 hours later had a flurry of counteroffers and counter offers to counter offers. It appears that we have a home just off the north tollway in Plano, north of Dallas. The location is about 20 minutes to my office and about 30 minutes to the airport. We have to go through inspections and all those things. We hope to close on April14, prior to our goods arriving from New Zealand. The house has great entertaining space, including a great outdoor patio with a fireplace, sink, small refrigerator and seating area.

The following pictures are from a huge park on the Northwest part of the city, along the pacific. Golden Gate Bridge is the first of these.

Catching up
Posted Sat March 20 at 12:04 amThe past few months have been difficult to stay current on my blog. Sorry about that. I am looking forward to getting settled into our own home and establishing some routines. We are having a good time with our friends, Michael and Stephanie, in their home but will look forward to finding a home of our own. We don't have any solid leads yet for a house but continue actively looking.
I am posting some pictures of our past month. This is Lion Rock at Piha Beach outside of Auckland. Laidlaw College has a cottage right near the beach.
Life in the big D
Posted Sun March 14 at 1:07 amWe are adapting to life in Texas . This week we will able to locate two vehicles, each Toyotas, used but in great condition. We loved being able to get by with one vehicle in New Zealand but Dallas is not a public transit or walking city. Many of the major streets do not have sidewalks alongside of them and everything is very spread out. For my Auckland friends my trip to the office right now is about 26 kilometers one way and this would be considered very normal for Dallas. Three of the people that work in my office commute this far or further.
Quick Update
Posted Sat March 06 at 10:14 pmWe had a great visit with Ben last weekend and have been immersed in life in Texas. It is like starting almost completely over . . . . having to purchase cars, insurance, appliances, the basics of life and then home hunting. We deeply appreciate the kindness of our friends Michael and Stephanie Kirtpatrick who have given us refuge during this season. Both Naomi and I feel pretty exhausted from the move and time changes but are doing well. We feel the grace of God and see his kindness to us in so many ways.
